Calasparra

Costa Cálida (Murcia)

Calasparra is a municipality in the Spanish province and region of Murcia. The city is located in a mountainous area in the northwest of the province of Murcia. Unlike the surrounding area, Calasparra has access to 4 rivers, including the Segura. Because of this, the city is also known for its rice production, which dates back to the 14th century. There are two churches in the city, the Iglesia San Pedro and the Parish Church. Another tourist attraction in Calasparra is Nuestra Senora de la Esperanza. This is a 17th century retreat. The legend of the virgin of the city tells us that if someone wants to take the statue of the virgin she makes herself so heavy that everyone realizes that she belongs there
